In short: CannersDocs has no accounts and no server, and we (Viorta) do not collect, receive or sell your personal data. The pages you scan, the text read from them and your folders stay on your phone: scanning, text recognition and search all run on the device. The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects some device data as described below. Ads never see your documents.

Information stored on your device

The app keeps everything it makes in its private storage on your phone:

  • the photos you scan or import, and the pages made from them;
  • the text recognized in each page, and the search index built from it and from document and folder names;
  • your folders, document names and page order;
  • your signature, if you draw one;
  • your settings: theme, scan defaults (format, paper size, quality, automatic text recognition);
  • which Pro tools you unlocked and until when;
  • how many times you have opened the app and saved a document, and when the last ads were shown, so ads follow the limits described below;
  • your ad privacy choices, kept by Google's consent tool.

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android Settings, deletes it.

Scanning, text recognition and search

The camera picture, page detection, straightening, filters and text recognition (OCR) are processed entirely on your phone, by models bundled inside the app. The app has no server: nothing you scan is uploaded, and we never see your documents or the text in them. Search looks only through the documents stored on your phone.

Sharing and saving files

A document leaves the app only when you choose to share it or save it to your device. The PDF or image then goes to the app, contact or folder you pick, and is handled under that app's or service's own privacy policy. Temporary export files are deleted from the app's cache the next time it starts.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob (Google LLC): a full-screen ad when you open or return to the app (not on your first launch, and not more than once a minute), a full-screen ad after a document finishes saving (from your second save, at most once every three minutes), native ads on the home screen, in folder lists and on the "Document saved" screen, and an optional rewarded ad that unlocks one Pro tool for 60 minutes. No ad is shown while you scan, edit or read a document, and you never have to watch a rewarded ad.

To serve and measure ads, Google's Mobile Ads SDK collects and shares with Google:

  • your Android advertising ID;
  • your IP address, used to estimate an approximate location;
  • interactions with ads, such as ads shown and tapped;
  • crash logs and diagnostics from the ads library.

Ads never receive your documents, their text or their names. Google uses this data as described in its privacy policy and in how Google uses information from apps that use its services. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in Android Settings under Privacy, Ads.

Your consent (EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland)

The app checks Google's consent requirements every time it starts, and requests ads only when that check allows it. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, it shows Google's consent form first, and personalized ads are shown only if you agree. You can change your choice at any time in the app's Settings, under ad privacy options.

Permissions

  • Camera, to scan pages, used only while the camera screen is open. Android asks you before the first scan.
  • Internet and network state, only to load ads and Google's consent form.

Photos are imported with the Android Photo Picker, which gives the app only the pictures you choose, so it never asks for access to your photo library.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Data retention, sharing and security

We hold no personal data about you, so we have nothing to retain, share or sell. Your documents are protected by Android's app sandbox, which keeps other apps from reading them, and ad traffic uses HTTPS. Because your documents exist only on your phone, we cannot recover them if the phone is lost or the app is uninstalled; export the ones you need to keep.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR, the CCPA and Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP) give you rights over your personal data, including access and deletion. Because we hold none, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete: you can delete any document in the app, or all of them by uninstalling it. For data held by Google, use the controls described above or contact Google.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version is published at this address with a new effective date. Significant changes are also mentioned in the app's release notes on Google Play.
